TL;DR from Tech Show Madrid? It Was a BLAST!

If you’re wondering what Tech Show Madrid was like, my short answer is: it was a BLAST!

Just before Halloween, the 5th edition of this massive tech trade show took over IFEMA Madrid. We're talking 25,000 professionals, 350+ speakers and 400 exhibitors. Whether you were a visitor, an exhibitor or a keynote speaker, the energy was undeniable.

The scale of the IFEMA Madrid pavilions were massive and the sound of hundreds of conversations, product demos and keynote intros all happening at once was electric. It’s one thing to read about tech trends and it's another to be in a room with thousands of people who are actively building them. It really is a place to connect: everyone was welcoming, energized and ready to talk shop.

The Theme: AI, AI and More AI

The key topic was Artificial Intelligence. You’d have to be living under a rock to miss the AI boom, but it was still surprising to see the scale of it. It felt like every third booth was about AI.

The event had dedicated sectors like "Cyber Security World," "Big Data & AI World," and "Technology for HR & Marketing." But it doesn’t matter which sector you visited, AI was the star, promising to solve your marketing efforts, streamline your HR or supercharge your data.

I'm talking about AI-powered chatbots that promised to "revolutionize" customer service, marketing platforms that could "instantly" write a month's worth of content, and HR tools that claimed to find your "perfect" candidate from a single job description. It’s exciting to see all the different use-cases.

The Great AI-Washing

This brings me to my only real critique, and it was more of a personal "huh?" moment.

I was genuinely excited about the "AI-Infrastructure" section. I went in envisioning new, shiny, cutting-edge solutions and startups for model training, data pipelining, or specialized hardware.

Instead, what I found was... server-hosting.

It was personally disappointing, as it felt like many providers had simply rebranded their existing cloud and server solutions with an "AI" label. This felt like "AI-washing," and it left me with a big question: Are we framing AI as a simple product you can just buy, rather than a complex capability you have to build?

The buzz was incredible, and the energy was there. But seeing this made me wonder if there was just a lot of "old tech with new paint" on display. It definitely made me want to look harder for the truly foundational innovation that was (hopefully) hiding just beneath the hype.

The Verdict: We’ll Be Back!

Even with my questions about AI-washing - Tech Show Madrid is an essential place to be.

That observation about the hype is the trend. You can't get a real feel for the industry's direction (what's real, what's over-hyped, and what's really next) by just reading articles. You have to be there, on the floor, talking to the people.

And that’s the other half of the magic. The technology itself is only part of the story. The true value was in the people. The real "buzz" came from the thousands of conversations happening in the halls, over coffee and at the booths. It’s an incredible, high-energy hub for connecting with leaders, thinkers and innovators from all over Europe.

It’s a must-attend event of the tech scene. We had a blast, we learned a lot and we’ll definitely be there again next year.

Hope to see you there!
